The 8th edition of the festival will take place in а hybrid form - simuntaneusly online and with screening in Art cinemas:  • 9 - 28 February 2023 - Screenings online on a special Festival platform available only from Bulgaria and in Art cinemas in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Stara Zagora.  • Summer edition - August/September 2023 in open air places. 

"Master of Art" (MofA) is the first international Film Festival on the Balkans for art documentaries. Presenting the best documentaries produced and released after January 1, 2020.

Films in any other language rather than English (incl. those in Bulgarian) must have English subtitles. The applicants must provide a file with synchronized English subtitles of the film (for films that are not in English) and a dialogue list (phonogram on text) of the language of origin. The translation in Bulgarian shall be provided by the organizers.

I. ARCHITECTURE and DESIGN - Documentaries for architects, past and present architectural achievements, historic buildings.

II. DOCUMENTARY ON ART AND CHILDREN – Documentaries on art created especially for children.

III. ART and POWER - documentaries about the relationship between the artists and totalitarian regimes and politic.

IV.CONTEMPORARY ART, INSTALLATION ART, PROTEST ART - documentaries about contemporary art, art installations and protest art.

V. CULINARY ART - Documentaries on art of preparing, cooking and serving food.

VI. FINE ART and PHOTOGRAPHY - Documentaries about artists and sculptures from different eras, galleries and exhibitions.

VII. LITERATURE - Documentaries about writers, poets, and/ or their works.

VIII. MUSIC and DANCE - Documentaries about music, composers and musicians - opera, classics, folk, jazz, pop and rock; dancers and choreographers - ballet, folk, traditional and contemporary dance, theater and documentary theater, acting challenges on stage.

IX. THEATRE and CINEMA - Documentaries about theatre, acting challenges on stage; notable filmmakers and actors. 

X. VIDEO ART AND ART ADVERTISING – Video art, experimental videos and art advertising.

XI. ART in VR - ART films for  VR.
